Road Nationals

History

The Federation University Road National Championships, affectionately known as RoadNats, are held annually at the beginning of each year. The winners of each category are awarded with the green and gold Australian champion’s jersey.

Timeline

1901 – 1939
The title of long distance road champion of Australia was awarded to the fastest time in the Warrnambool to Melbourne Classic over 266km

1947 – 1949
The title of long distance road champion of Australia was awarded at a sprint point 240km into the Warrnambool to Melbourne Classic

Women’s road race debut

1989
Men’s criterium debut

1991
Women’s time trial debut

1994
Women’s criterium debut

2001
Under 23 Men Championships introduced as separate category to Elite Men

2016
Gran Fondo National Championships is introduced

2018
Para-cycling and Under 19 road race and time trials introduced ​

2019
eRacing National Championships makes its debut

2020
Intellectual Impairment category introduced
