McCain Foods has today announced its official sponsorship of the 2020 Federation University Road National Championships running between January 8 and 12. As one of the largest annual cycling festivals in Australia, the event consists of five days of cycling competitions and family events catering to all age groups and abilities.
Since first holding the Championships in the City of Ballarat in 2002, the Ballarat region expects to draw over 20,000 participants this year.
McCain currently employs over 600 people at their Ballarat site and works with more than 230 local suppliers, and this partnership is yet another example of the business’ commitment to the local Ballarat community.
As the event’s official community partner, McCain will be sponsoring the festival’s community activities, including the Corporate Ride, a Bike Education & Skills session, the Community Movie Night and the Community Run/Walk. The Mt Buninyong start/finish line for the elite races will be renamed Mt McCain for the event. McCain will be presenting the King of the Hill and Queen of the Hill jerseys to the winning elite cyclists at the event finale.
McCain Marketing Manager- Communications, Karen Ramsay, said the partnership with Cycling Australia is a strong example of McCain’s continued commitment to community investment and support.
“We’re proud of our continued involvement with the people of Ballarat, and this event is a great way for us to give back to the community and celebrate our 50 years in the area,” said Ms Ramsay.
“In the 2018 financial year, McCain donated over a half million dollars to local charities, schools and sporting organisations across Australia. We are pleased to continue our support of local organisations in 2020.”
Steve Drake, CEO Cycling Australia, said they are excited to be working with McCain.
“This event has grown significantly in scale and popularity over the last few years, and this partnership is a good fit for us and local McCain” said Mr. Drake.
“As more people get involved each year, we’ve been adding more inclusive events to the line-up such as the Movie Night and Community Run/Walk. We thank McCain for its contribution to help bring these events to life.”
McCain’s contribution is part of their 50 year celebration in Australia and their 2019-2020 advertising campaign celebrating the diversity in Australian families and the joy around mealtime togetherness.
